British Counties in Verse

A Poetry Series, Duchy and County by County

British Counties in Verse maps England one county at a time — not with roads and borders, but with the forces that actually shaped each place: the ice, the rock, the tide, the centuries of human hands working the land. Each volume takes a single county and holds it to close attention. The result isn't postcard poetry. It's precise, unsentimental, and grounded in real geology and real history — verse written from the ground up.

Three counties are published so far. A fourth, Somerset, arrives in September 2026. The series continues from there.
